Jay Strongwater Giverny Collection
The blaze of a late afternoon sun gracing a vast rolling landscape with a brilliant wash of speckled splendor. The same inspiration of dancing light that captured the eye of famous Impressionist masters has struck Jay’s paintbrush for this aptly named collection Giverny. The paintbrush is rendered in supple strokes, different than Jay’s usual application of enamel through fine needle tips. Sky blue enamel speckles the Blue Jay figurine, and the 8x10 blossom frame is as soft and light as a Manet palette. The brilliance of white porcelain was an appropriate base for sculpted daylilies and leaf shaped dishes which were covered in strokes of fuscia, vivid green, pale lavender and pink enamels to compose a show stopping serving stand. Even the glasswork mimics the sparkling and dappling of an impressionist brushstroke for the large glass bowl that crowns a magnificent bouquet of blossoms.
