An angel with a peaceful expression puts one foot forward as if to move on, whilst he lifts his gaze from the book of wonders he holds in his hands. The codex, made of solid gold and covered with enamels, is a precious miniature where it is possible to read a quote from Seneca, yet leaving space to add a thought of personal wisdom. It is the symbol fo wisdom and science, an image of totality in the universe. In the ancient world, people believed in the existence of a Liber Mundi, containing the laws used by God to create and form the universe.
